Welcome to the Association of Prison Lawyers

Nelson Mandela has said "No one truly knows a nation until one has been inside its jails. A nation should not be judged by how it treats its highest citizens, but its lowest ones."

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

11th March 2010 - OASys Assessments and Resettlement for Prisoners

Date: Thursday 11th March 2010

Time: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm

Location: Doughty Chambers, 54 Doughty Street, London

The morning session on OASys assessments will include presentations by members of the NOMS OASys Team and barristers from Doughty Street Chambers. This is aimed at shedding some light on and generating debate about OASys assessments which can have a significant impact upon the progress of prisoners.

In the afternoon session on Resettlement we will be inviting organisations who can provide support to prisoners in the community (eg with housing, drugs/alcohol, disability needs) to explain what they do and how prisoners and their representatives can access and their assistance.  There will also be legal presentations by barristers from Doughty Street Chambers. This should provide invaluable information for advisers to assist clients with release plans.

The cost of the event is £ 70 for Members of The Association of Prison Lawyers and £ 100 for all non-members.

The event will attract at least 4.5 CPD points (to be confirmed).
